The church stole the pagan solstice celebration. Imagine the discussions and the worries as old traditions gave way or became twisted into christian-flavored caricatures.
Then Coca Cola redesigned St. Nicholas and the commercial onslaught started. Payback time! Every single worry the church has now is something they did on purpose to older beliefs.
