What is the difference between our brain and those of other animals, except quantity of the different functions? Not as much as we would like to think, perhaps? But the two pointed out here may explain it all.
"Episodic recall" and an open-ended language seem to be the two differentiators. The building blocks for telling and perceiving a story. And when you think about it, storytelling has been an important part of every human civilization.
