A quick fix for a broken SD card socket using sugru.

A quick fix for a broken SD card socket using sugru.

Half of a pack of sugru applied to the bottom of the enclosure. Press raspie down with sd card in socket. Remove again. Let sugru harden, and trim off so it doesn't interfere with the switch at the bottom of the socket or the write lock on the side of the sd card. Also sand slightly down to give the card a little room or it will be hard to insert. Reassemble.

  1. True hacking at its best and no duct tape used, impressive :-) :-)

  2. I used another one of the 4 basic tools, Paul Gray
Duct tape, wd-40 (or crc 5-56 if that is more available), sugru and a big hammer. The complete toolbox?

  3. I wish, soldering iron, and sadly these days more than one screw driver and allen key set and soon a bigger magnifying lens light.

Was easier in the even older days with a sprocket and widget set :).

  4. Also found cigarette papers to be utterly brilliant for air balancing air flow to balance in and out -- avoid your negative air pressures when your GPU does not blow air out as much and slightly draws it in and overheats as there fans not as strong as case fans.

Also handy to spot air-flow dead-spots on memory sticks -- easier and lighter papers than sticky notes and cheaper. But a good PSU/components, UPS filtering and air flow with a stable BIOS just makes any PC just work and last a longer time than those with heat spots reducing the component life.
